Beauty For Ashes
The name comes from Isaiah 61 — beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, hope where there was none. It's a fitting name for an event that exists to support one of Saint Augustine's most quietly essential organizations.
The StoryThe Women's Refuge of St Johns County is a faith-based residential program giving women a place to land when they have nowhere else to go. Women arriving from domestic violence, addiction, homelessness, and incarceration enter a structured 12-to-18-month program built around the whole person — trauma counseling, life skills, financial management, accountability, and the kind of steady community that makes lasting change possible. The goal isn't just stability. It's restoration.
The Beauty for Ashes benefit, held at The Waterworks, brought the community together in support of that mission — an evening that reflected the spirit of the Refuge itself: warm, purposeful, and grounded in the belief that every woman deserves a real second chance.
